Xreal has officially announced its Aura augmented reality glasses, a new entrant into the Android XR ecosystem. Revealed at the Augmented World Expo, the device aims to merge the performance of a high-end headset with the form factor of lightweight glasses, though it still requires a tethered connection to a separate processing unit. The launch, however, is marked by a significant omission: a final retail price.
The Aura glasses are positioned between conventional smart glasses and bulkier headsets, with their main appeal coming from a dense package of advanced XR features.
| Feature | Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Field of view | 70 degrees | Delivers a more immersive visual field for a glasses-sized device. |
| Input method | Integrated hand tracking | Enables controller-free interaction and a simpler user experience. |
| Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite | Signals high-end XR performance closer to larger headsets. |
| Form factor | Lightweight glasses with tethered compute | Balances portability with more processing power than typical smart glasses. |
Xreal's market approach combines an early reservation incentive, an unannounced full price, and a phased international rollout.
Buyers can place a $99 deposit to secure a $199 launch credit, effectively offering a $100 discount.
The initial release is planned for the US, UK, Japan, Canada, and South Korea.
A European release is expected after the first wave, while the final retail price remains undisclosed.
