Resident Evil Requiem players, missing the iconic Merchant from Resident Evil 4, have found a way to bring him back. A dedicated fan has created a mod that replaces the game's supply boxes with the gravelly-voiced vendor, much to the delight of the community. This mod allows players to once again experience the familiar "welcome" of the beloved character.
Resident Evil 4 is widely regarded as a classic, and a significant part of its charm was its memorable cast, with the Merchant being a standout. In Resident Evil Requiem, this fan-favorite character was notably absent, replaced by less engaging supply boxes. However, a modder known as fanteeek on Nexus Mods has rectified this omission for PC players.
A clip showcasing the mod in action quickly gained traction on social media, demonstrating that players can now be greeted by the Merchant's familiar "welcome" during Leon's segments. The mod functions as expected, allowing players to access the same arsenal of weapons and upgrades while having the Merchant present.
Currently, the mod's functionality is limited to the Merchant's introductory voice line. Fanteeek has expressed intentions to expand the mod by adding more dialogue and animations in the future. The character model used in the mod appears to be sourced from the Resident Evil 4 remake. Until Capcom decides to reintroduce the Merchant in a future title, this mod serves as the primary means for players to experience his presence.
Resident Evil Requiem was released on February 27, 2026, for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Capcom has confirmed post-launch content, including a story expansion and a new mini-game, are in development.
