Storyteller Overland has introduced the GXV Wild, an adventure vehicle designed to provide substantial off-road capability in a more compact size than its larger GXV Hilt and Epic models. Built on the Ram 3500 single-cab pickup chassis, the GXV Wild aims to serve overlanders who require a robust platform without the footprint of a larger expedition rig.
The GXV Wild is based on a Ram 3500 Heavy Duty truck in the Big Horn Level 2 trim. Power comes from the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine. To enhance its off-road performance, Storyteller equips the truck with an AEV three-inch lift suspension system. This modification increases ground clearance and makes room for 37-inch MPT tires on 20-inch forged wheels. Despite these upgrades and the added camper, the vehicle maintains a towing capacity of up to 11,000 pounds and can handle a payload of 1,000 pounds. The cab interior includes features such as heated seats, a 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen, and a premium audio system.
The main feature is the camper box, which provides living space for up to four adults. It contains a queen-size loft mattress and a rear dinette that converts into a second sleeping area. Climate control is managed by a Truma rooftop air conditioner and a 14,000-BTU hydronic heating system, which uses heated fluid to provide consistent warmth. The kitchen is equipped with a 4.1-cubic-foot stainless steel refrigerator-freezer, a portable induction cooktop, and a combination microwave that also functions as a convection oven and air fryer. The vehicle includes a wet bath, where the shower and toilet share the same space, featuring a cassette toilet with a removable waste tank.
A key design element of the GXV Wild is its "FlipOut Deck." This feature involves a rear wall section that folds down to create an open-air deck, expanding the usable living space when stationary. This addresses the challenge of creating a spacious feel in a smaller vehicle footprint. The GXV Wild is positioned in the market as a Super C class vehicle that offers a balance between the maneuverability of a smaller camper and the robust features of a larger expedition truck. It provides a solution for users seeking advanced off-road capabilities and self-sufficient living amenities in a more manageable package compared to its larger siblings.
